Regal Lager had the opportunity to once again this year sponsor First Candle’s major fundraising event of the year, the Charity Gala. The event took place on October 22 at the Tribeca Rooftop in New York City with more than 300 guests in attendance, helping to raise awareness around SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), Stillbirth and Sudden, Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID).
First Candle has been around for 40 years and has expanded its mission over the years, and is now working hard to raise awareness for the Kicks Count campaign, the first ever, national risk-reduction campaign to end still birth. Daily monitoring and logging of baby’s kicks will help pregnant women monitor a baby’s activity during the final trimester .This helps expecting women to monitor baby’s progress, noting any significant changes in baby’s activity, and know to report immediate any irregular activity to their doctor. The organization is also hard at work with The National Crib Campaign, a program made possibly through an $11 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Many infant deaths could be prevented by placing babies to sleep in a safe environment.
